John O'Connell was born in 1972. A former Literary Editor at Time Out, he is now freelance, writing mainly for The Times and The Guardian. His first book, I TOLD YOU I WAS ILL: ADVENTURES IN HYPOCHONDRIA, was published by Short Books in 2005. His second, THE MIDLIFE MANUAL (co-written with Jessica Cargill Thompson), will be published in September, also by Short Books. He lives in south London with his wife and two daughters.
