    Hugh is a writer and curator with interests from science to architecture and design. He is the author of Anatomies: The Human Body, Its Parts and the Stories They Tell and the best-selling Periodic Tales, a cultural companion to the chemical elements (both Penguin).

    He curated the exhibitions 'Zoomorphic' and "Touch Me' at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and 'Identity: Eight Rooms, Nine Lives', about our changing ideas of the self, at the Wellcome Collection. He is working on an exhibition of artworks related to the chemical elements for Compton Verney in 2015.

    His current writing projects include a personal exploration of the seventeenth century Norwich physician, writer and myth buster, Sir Thomas Browne, and a popular science history of tides.

    Hugh lives in Norfolk with his wife and son and two Maine coon cats.
